This is the NAF's biggest website and their largest online project. A Global Suggestion Box for socially innovative non-technological ideas and projects, with £1,000 UK sterling awards annually for the best ideas or projects submitted. New submissions go in month by month and are usually categorised annually in June each year.
It includes the 10 ideas most recently voted on, the 20 most highly rated ideas, links to 25 categorised sections of ideas from "children and education" to "death and dying". You can see the ideas newly voted on change frequently, especially if you add your own votes.
- the UnLtd Ideas Bank
A new web project collaboration between the Global Ideas Bank and UnLtd to encourage social invention in the UK, and to increase the renown of creative projects for social good.
- Natural Death Centre
The Natural Death Centre aims to support those dying at home and their carers and to help them arrange funerals. It has as a more general aim that of helping improve 'the quality of dying'.
- Annual National Day of the Dead
People still sometimes ask why this Natural Death Centre-organised Day of the Dead falls in April rather than on the more traditional eve of All Saint's Day, October 31st. The answer is that there used to be a pagan Day of the Dead in the spring, which was then taken over as a Christian Day of the Dead and much later moved to the autumn. The London-based organisation, the Natural Death Centre, believes that it is easier for people to remember the dead and to contemplate their mortality in the optimistic mood of springtime rather than in the relative gloom of autumn, so they have reclaimed the spring date for their National Day of the Dead.
