How Things Work

Domain Name

• Our DNS Registrar for walkingclub.org.uk is godaddy.co.uk. They also manage the actual domain names. The account is owned by Andrew, but DAC and Sean have the access details.
• We have thought about using a .com domain, but not done anthing about it.
• Besides the 'A' records for 'www' and '@', there are several names that alias (cname) to Blogger, and some ( the 'random digit names') used for authentication by Google Analytics / Google Webmaster tools. There is also a 'CA' record for letencrypt.com
• The godaddy account has some mail aliases, e.g. saturdaywalkers@... goes to the Yahoo email account.

• Ask any long term member to give you the password
• Don't delete (non-spam) emails, so that others can see them.
• If you reply to an email, CC the email account, so that others can that someone has replied

Social Media

• Twitter: Tweets are automatically cross-posted on Facebook.
• Facebook: Your personal Facebook ID need to be given access to the Facebook page by a current 'page admin' (e.g. Peter, Andrew). There is a Facebook Group which we don't use much at present. Ditto about access.
• Flickr: There is a club Flickr ID with a few legacy photos, and a SWC group. Your personal Flickr id need to be made an admin of the group.
• Instagram is in the process of being set up.
