An Artist With Words

“The world is wide;

No two days are alike, nor even two hours

Neither were there ever two leaves of a tree alike

Since the creation of the world;

And the genuine productions of art,

Like those of nature,

Are all distinct from each other.”

If I could paint like the painter writes

And if I could sculpt words like the sculptor models clay

And if I had half as much talent as the skills that I lack

Then, perhaps, in one moment of lucid inspiration

I would communicate my thoughts and ideas

And someone somewhere sometime may understand.
