So Out There, So Out Of Control

Save your love for every moment- can you?

Every moment that you awaken

-Donít lock it in a silver box

Every little thing, every little thought that comes to you on wings-

Is worthy, even that which seems most unworthy.

On an unexpected turning, you may meet a dead rabbit

A cat flattened on the road yet perfect-

A sight that stops you in your tracks-

A baker's shop ís called Death, as we walk into the village

Every little sight like that

Every little thought is worthy of care and respect

It is you- the Watcher of everything-

It is you that I love

It is you who sees, who sits at the Gate of the city

And watches everything coming and going, like our breath

Including Time itself- (linear or radiant?)

This time last year I was in this same village with Nicholas and Josefine.

She was suffocated by the tweeness of the tea-room-

'I cannot stand it in here, I've got to leave-'

And he said in a very English way-

'You really are hysterical at times-'

And she said-'I am going to the pub across the road- what about you Steve?'

And I said "Errrrrrrrmmmm…."

From this vantage point we can look at all those 'Errrrrrrrmmms'

At those cartoon moments-

Look back at those who were here and are no longer.

But watching all this from the immeasurable refuge

The sanctuary of this moment

How can I not love everyone?

It doesn't matter what is said, not said, done, not done, remembered, not remembered.

There is a surrender to the completeness,

to that which was never born, to that which has never died.

There is that lonely place where we are all strangely alone

yet all together in our helplessness.

That compassion, that courage to want you to be free,

to not need or want anything from you,

And know you don't need anything from me!

It is a bit scary- yet it is the only way forward.

The child sits beside the man and they emanate each other's light.

It is so out there, so out of control!

Wanting that to be any other way- you suffer!

Letting it unfold the way it is- seeing the beauty of a tree

Like a hand unclasping its green fingers in the sun

-With sweeping melodious winds,

Majestic mid-day light-

You are in joy!!

Watching the game of it all- you laugh!

So far out there- you're back in again!

Wind, trees, birds, grass-

Play on in your random glory!
