Including You

(27 August 2001)

Somewhere in this moment is a space

Where you're in my place

Whilst your face

Is so alive on the wall

As I'm sitting on this sofa

In a Cricklewood living-room

My eyes can see many shapes and colours

-On the floors, walls and ceilings

And for all these interlocking patterns there is

An abundant interlocking world inside

Where I can never refuse you

-Never not include you

In measurable Time and Space

You were suddenly torn away

But in every choice-making moment

I can see you inside

Fused with the Wholeness

Where the lights and the darks meet

There is a vast, benign landscape

And it is now evening

The sky is red and blue: earth and mountains orange, red and pink

Black shadows stretching out like very long arms and torsos

And you are walking towards me

Your face transmits its light, calm and unique character

So that even in this melancholia

-I can't help being enthusiastic

For that vital force always transmitted

When one face turns and opens to another

There is a dimension to this being-in-life

Where I have no control over who comes and goes

Someone said it's 85% pre-destiny  and 15% free-will

There's just that little bit of movement towards

The child, the person who was at one

-At home in the Everything

The past, present and future

All at home in this infinite This- ness

This Void which is full
