A disused railway line path through quiet countryside

This information has not been ride-checked in a while. Updates / Feedback / Trip Reports welcome!
Length 14 miles (23 km)
Toughness 1 / 10 - easy
Off Road 100%

A north-south disused railway line with a good surface - shared use between cyclist and walks. Child friendly.

North of the route : There is a gap between Heathfield and Groombridge where the off road Forest Way starts. There is a waymarked on-road route - NCN 21

South of the route : The southerly (4 miles, 7 km) end of the route, from Polegate to Eastbourne, is an unscenic, but traffic free continuation of the route to Eastbourne's seafront - alongside busy roads. You can cycle along parts of the seafront promenade once your there - but watch out for strict enforcement of no-cycling on parts of the seafront.
