A very pleasant 10.6 mile walk on the Kentish North Downs. Spring had finally come for this walk, with very good weather and the sighting of a pair of Swallows!

The walker slowly ascends the Downs to arrive at The Woodland Trust's Hucking Estate, a mix of newly restored trees, grassland and sheep grazing. After leaving the Estate, there's a short section along The North Downs Way, with some fine views of the surrounding countryside, including the later destination of Leeds Castle.

Prior to reaching it though, there's a rather dismal section of walking beside an 'A' road and high-speed rail line, as well as the precarious task of crossing said road...

Once done, however, the walker is presented with the 'loveliest castle in the World', apparently, and public rights-of-way enable walkers to come to their own conclusions.

Tackling the busy A20 once again, and traversing the HS1 rail-line, it's on back to Hollingbourne station.

A decent walk, with some lovely weather, but spoilt by the section prior to Leeds Castle. If Network Rail get their way, with the closure of pedestrian rail crossings, such dismal and dangerous road side walks could become more frequent. You have been warned! Contact your M.P...
