A return to pastures old for a walk not previously undertaken. This 11 miler (10.3 'officially') was undertaken on a very decent day, with a cooling northerly breeze. The walk passes through the older part of Pulborough, with its church, and ascends past former glasshouses to gentle hills with good views of the Downs. Pub lunches can be had in either Nutbourne, or Mareshill, but this walker chose to continue on past the RSPB nature reserve at Pulborough Brooks to the remote church at Wiggonholt. Alternatively, and with a good pace/an early start, there is a cafe at the visitor centre. After lunch, there is a long section of relatively quiet lane walking towards the South Downs. Then, having dealt with around 150 yards of the busy B2139, there's an ascent of the steep Rackham Hill for some fine views from the South Downs Way. This takes walkers back into Amberley, with an extension possible alongside the River Arun. A nicely varied walk with good paths currently (though many rickety stiles!); amazingly dry for the time of year!
