A very decent walk of 8.6 miles to the south-east of the Cinque Port of Rye, East Sussex. Undertaken on a very pleasant afternoon, with a light ENE breeze, and, thankfully, no forecast showers. This version does the walk in reverse, thanks to GPX technology, so that lunch can be taken at an appropriate time, either in Rye Harbour's church grounds, the nearby recreation ground, a pub, or, in this case, on one of the benches near the Discovery Centre, which also has a café. It's a level walk, often utilising a tarmac road, through a Nature Reserve, so lots of wading and sea birds are currently about. It also passes Henry 8th's Camber Castle ruins. Very pleasant indeed, particularly away from the busier Discovery Centre, and with a number of options available, though some paths are prone to flooding in the winter months. P.S. The walk I meant to reference at the start was East Sussex Wildlife Trust, not Kent, and the wader near the initial hide was an Oystercatcher. Still no Cuckoo heard! As an aside, some parts of Camber Sands are still restricted due to some toxic waste being spilled by Southern Water, apparently.
