Re-Membering is For Getting

Beside a lake

Looking at the landscapes of your faces

For this moment forgetting

All the hardness and self-recrimination

For a moment there is no 'me'

There is only a breathing being

Looking at other breathing beings.

Looking back along a haphazard path zig-zagging

Strewn with errors

-Can you forgive your self?

Is there such a force as God

Breathing inside you?

Picture, it is Long Ago-

A wanting to do something good

Is what takes you to sleep

And so you are praying beside

The bunk bed that holds

your sleeping brother above;

You honour your family name by name

Knowing when you awaken,

They will all still be here.

Picture again, it is Now-

The wanting that takes you to sleep is the same-

But when you awaken

They are not still here

You are older on the outside

But on the inside....?

Realisation that everything comes down to dissolution

Everything formed and built

Eventually goes to pieces

Then the pieces go

And there is a residue

And you move back to the start
