  • Bow Brickhill to Leighton Buzzard. 18/4/24
    amib, Apr-24

A delightful 9.7 mile variant of this walk, previously done in December 2010, undertaken on a pleasant, April day with a chill, north-westerly breeze.

Setting out from the station, the walker is soon into Back Wood, with it's tall Sequoia trees, on through Broomhill Wood and then Buttermilk Wood. A crossing of the A5 dual carriageway is then necessary soon after, before more woodland at Duncombe Wood.

Lunch is had at St Mary-the-Virgin church, Great Brickhill, though a pub alternative is available.

There's more woodland walking after lunch, on the Greensand Ridge Walk, through the drier Rushmere Country Park.

This walker then decides to veer on the side of caution by taking the 'wet weather diversion' to join the Grand Union Canal at Leighton Buzzard. The station is reached shortly afterwards.

Another excellent walk down Memory Lane, with good paths after lunch, but some pretty damp ones prior. Plenty of bird-song, and flora (with the unidentified blue flowers being Forget-me-Nots).

  • Bow Brickhill to Leighton Buzzard, Part 1. 13/12/10.
    amib, Dec-10

A delightful 10.5 mile (per my pedometer) walk through the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire countryside. Part 1 takes the walker past the sequoia trees of Back Wood, then on through Duncombe Wood before lunch in Great Brickhill.

  • Bow Brickhill to Leighton Buzzard, Part 2. 13/12/10.
    amib, Dec-10

Carrying on after lunch, the walker follows the Greensand Ridge Walk to the Grand Union Canal. It's then a straight forward walk along the towpath into Leighton Buzzard.
