This was an interesting walk of almost 12 miles in the countryside north of Oxford.

Setting out from the recently rebuilt halt/station at Islip, the birthplace of Edward the Confessor, the walker is soon crossing the River Ray and fields to arrive in the village of Noke. From here, it's on through the RSPB reserve of Otmoor for lunch in the 'Wetland Watch' bird hide.

Thereafter, the walker passes the rifle range of MOD Otmoor prior to reaching the village of Beckley, where there is a pub option for lunch. Then, it's on through Woodeaton village, along the banks of the River Cherwell and then back into Islip.

A nice walk with historical and ornithological elements. The peace could soon be destroyed though, should plans for an 'Expressway' come to fruition near Otmoor.
