  • Kelvedon Circular. 6/4/18.
    amib, Apr-18

Around 12 miles of walking in the Blackwater Valley, Essex. Soon after leaving the station, it's through Blackcurrant fields and then along quiet field boundaries. Passing through Coggeshall Hamlet, the walker then follows the Blackwater, on past the remains of Coggeshall Abbey, with lunch outside St Nicholas' Chapel (where's there's an impromptu visit inside!).

After lunch, it's along The Essex way, passing Grange Barn, to Nunn's Bridge, crossing over The Blackwater again.

The walker then arrives in historic Coggeshall, which has more than 300 listed buildings.

The walk then moves away into open countryside, with more green lanes and field margins, before the return into Feering and then Kelvedon station.

The going underfoot wasn't too bad today due to some sunshine and a drying breeze. Could be a very damp/muddy walk in Winter.
