This was a very pleasant 13.5 mile Essex walk with some wonderful weather. It was also surprisingly wooded, which was helpful, given the heat. There were flower-rich meadows, nature reserves, and even some rolling hills, providing views over the Thames Estuary, Canvey Island and the London skyline.

Lunch is had at St Peter and St Paul, Horndon-on-the-Hill, followed by further meadow/woodland walking, with an interesting area known as the Dunton Plotlands; former chalets and bungalows housing East Enders.

This was an interesting walk that contained some very well-maintained footpaths in places, yet not across fields - farmers note! There was one slight diversion, at Wren's Park Farm, and a brief encounter with the busy A13. Highly recommended though!
