Pangbourne Circular walk

Pretty villages, a toll bridge, fine views of the Thames in the morning and a serene stroll through a rural idyll after lunch.

2013 begins with this wonderful little 8.5 miler in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.

Setting out from the station, on a rather misty morning, the walker is soon walking over the Whitchurch Toll Bridge into Oxfordshire for a delightful section of walking along the Thames Path National Trail. There's potential here for some fine views of said river, though the misty conditions hindered these today.

The route continues through a nature reserve, woodland and then onto lunch in the village of Crays, though this walker took refreshment at the church in Whitchurch Hill.

After lunch, it's on past more fields and woods, including the notorious Beech Farm dog (well shackled today!), to rejoin the minor B road back to the station.

An excellent short walk with some nice variety. Just the tonic to resume mild exercise after the Festive excesses!
