One of only a handful of Hertfordshire walks on the SWC site, and this one of almost 12 miles was very enjoyable, despite the nearby presence of the busy A602. A walk of field margins, quiet country lanes, gentle, undulating landscape and the customary church lunch-stop.

A very pleasant walk, but one that might not be possible for much longer; plans are afoot to close the line between Hertford North and Stevenage, whilst a new platform is built at the latter. Replacement buses are mooted, but this would increase the journey time four-fold, particularly with road works just starting on the A602 near Watton. Check on-line and get in whilst you can!
