This is a walk for pigs and other mud lovers! Certainly in the winter months. Around ten and half miles of walking in the Kentish Wealden countryside, and much of it through the wet, earthy stuff today.
Setting out from the station, the walker is soon on the banks of the River Medway following the route of Free Walk 41 (which it does all the way to East Peckham). Then, it's on to a muddy Greensand Way for the journey to Roydon Hall, former Transcendental Meditation Centre. From here, it's on to lunch at an amazing Palladian church in Mereworth.
Replenished, the walker continues on across fields and into Hurst Wood for some pleasant woodland walking. Then, it's along The Wealdway and on to the waterside hamlet of Basted, prior to following a stream into Borough Green.
A very nice walk, with plenty of woodland stretches, though probably best done when it's drier.
