Drone 4K - The Majestic White Cliffs of Dover: A Journey Through History and Natural Beauty

If you're a lover of hiking and nature, the Dover to Deal coastal walk is an unmissable trek. Spanning 11 miles, this hike is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels and offers spectacular views of England's coastline. The walk begins at Dover Harbour, where you can admire the beauty of the white cliffs that tower over the port. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of the English Channel and Dover Harbour as you stroll past striking cliffs and beaches. The trail is known as an "Easy cliff walk", meaning it is easy-going and doesn't require any special hiking skills. Throughout the journey, you'll encounter a variety of flora and fauna, including an abundance of seabirds and coastal plants. The path also holds great historical significance, as it is believed that Deal beach was the site where Julius Caesar's forces landed in Great Britain. Furthermore, Walmer and Deal castles, built by Henry VIII as defence against the French invasion, are popular tourist attractions today. If you join our group, we'll meet at London King's Cross train station at 8:50 am and return around 8 pm. Trains from London St Pancras to Dover Priory depart once an hour, and return trains from Deal to St Pancras take 1 hour and 22 minutes. In summary, the Dover to Deal coastal walk is a stunning trek you shouldn't miss. With panoramic views of the English Channel, white cliffs, and the history of Julius Caesar and Henry VIII, this hike will leave you with unforgettable memories. swcwalks, book2, walk30, Dover to Deal. 29/9/23
amib, Oct-23

An update of an 11 mile walk last undertaken in August 2009 and recorded on the mobile. Today's version was walked in very pleasant conditions, with a gentle westerly breeze (sometimes heard on commentary). Setting out from Dover, with it's history of invasion, Castle and White Cliffs, the walker is soon up on these following an improved path (the England Coast Path and The Saxon Shore Way), with views over the docks and beyond. This section tends to be busy with tourists on a sunny day. Once beyond the lighthouse at South Foreland, the walking is quieter and 'wilder', with wonderful views of the Pas-de-Calais and Hautes-de-France (not Normandy as mentioned on the commentary!) coastline today. Lunch is had on a bench overlooking the wonderful resort village of St Margaret's Bay. Thereafter, having descended and ascended again, the terrain changes to a more agricultural one as the walker descends into Kingsdown and then Walmer. Now joined by the White Cliff's Country Trail, the walking is on the level, behind the shingle beach, all the way to Deal Pier. A very good walk, on some much improved surfaces to last time, and with the section t'wixt South Foreland and Kingsdown being best in this walker's humble. The Indian Summer weather aided and abetted the enjoyment. The decision to walk with the sun and breeze behind the walker was the correct one today.

White Cliffs of Dover to Deal walk | North Downs | 4K Coast Path | Easy cliff walk 🇬🇧 Hiking UK

Easy cliff walk following the Saxon Shore Way along the 'White Cliffs of Dover' to historic Deal Dover to Deal (or vice versa): 17.7 km (11 miles). Toughness 3 out of 10 This simple walk (it should be impossible to get lost if you keep the sea on your right-hand side) is nevertheless one of the finest coastal walks in England, taking you right along the top of the famous White Cliffs of Dover. On a clear day, you get stunning views of the English Channel, and the ferries buzzing in and out of Dover Harbour, and the French coast from Boulogne to Dunkerque. Surprisingly for a walk that seems to spend much of its time on the airy heights, not much exertion is involved. There are only two significant climbs, one out of Dover and the other out of St Margaret's Bay. Otherwise, the terrain is level or gently undulating. The last quarter of the walk, indeed, is totally flat, along a tranquil coast path behind the pebble beach of Deal. Though less dramatic than the White Cliffs, this section of the walk is full of historical and natural interest, passing Walmer and Deal castle, and – in late May and June – a stunning display of coastal flora on Deal’s shingle beach. © Club Hiking in London.
