An update of a 10.8 mile walk last done in October 2010, but this time, in reverse, due to the prevailing wind direction today, north-easterly. The weather was otherwise very good, being mainly sunny.
The initial walking out of Whitstable was on residential streets or the sea wall, but once past Seasalter, the harder surfaces were replaced by grass on the flood defence. Due to the high tide at the start, it was not possible to follow the shore-line route in front of the beach huts, which is private land anyway.
Lunch is had shortly shortly after the recommended pub stop, on a grassy bank, around 5 miles in.
This is the best section of the walk, being tranquil, and with more bird life, particularly as the tide rapidly subsided.
Faversham is eventually reached and this is a very interesting place.
A very pleasant walk undertaken in better conditions than last time. The addition of the England Coast Path to the Saxon Shore Way means that the walk notes/GPX track could do with a little tweek.
(The Cow Parsley-type plant is believed to be 'Alexanders' and the reddish plant thereafter, Red Valerian).

Continuing on from where the sea wall starts, the walk follows this wall for several miles to Seasalter; from there, the walker follows the Saxon Shore Way past the famous oyster beds into Whitstable.
Around 10 miles along the coast (Saxon Shore Way) between two intriguing towns. Part 1 takes the walker to the point where the sea wall starts.
