Dull and damp, with rain gradually easing through the day.

Today:

A dull and damp morning is expected, with outbreaks of rain. perhaps heavy at times. However rain will slowly ease through the day, with just the odd spot of drizzle possible after dark. Maximum Temperature 18C.

Tonight:

It will remain rather cloudy overnight, with the odd spot of drizzle possible, and perhaps one or two mist or fog patches. However most places staying dry. Minimum Temperature 10C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy start, with outbreaks of rain or drizzle and fog patches. Some sunny spells likely to develop, leading to it feeling warm. However cloud then thickening again later. Maximum Temperature 20C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Variable cloud, scattered showers and a fresh northeasterly breeze Wednesday. Clouds breaking to sunny spells Thursday, although some rain possible. Early mist patches Friday clearing to long sunny periods.

Day 6 to 15

Friday should start with a fine spell of weather with sunny spells, once early mist and fog across southern and central parts has cleared. Cloud and a weakening band of rain in the northwest will make progress southeastwards on Friday, reaching most parts of the country by day's end. Strong winds and showers should follow in the far northwest for a time. From next weekend onwards it will be changeable with periods of wet and windy weather interspersed with brighter and showery spells. The heaviest rain is likely in the north and west, where there's a risk of gales. Drier, brighter in the southeast, although some wet and windy spells likely here too. Temperatures varying around average, but becoming rather cold later with an increasing risk of overnight frosts.

Day 16 to 30

By the end of October and into early November weather systems may become slow-moving at times. This will lead to the risk of longer unsettled spells and, conversely, the chance of longer settled spells. Western and northwestern areas will probably see the wettest and windiest conditions, with the south and east often drier and brighter, although still with some rain at times too. During any generally settled and drier spells of weather there is an increasing risk of overnight frost and fog, especially in the north of the UK. On the whole temperatures are likely to be rather cold overall.
