Another attempt by this walker to complete this 12 mile walk last undertaken in 2010. Back then, the start was missed, but the extension via Beachy Head included, and today, although starting from the correct station, rain prevented completion of the last 3 miles. An unlucky walk? It was fair weather, upon leaving Berwick, but the walker was aware of the possibility of rain later. It was also decided to try the alternative South Downs Way option to avoid any issues with vegetation. Lunch was had at St Mary and St Peter's church, Wilmington, where a pub alternative also exists. The Wealdway is taken to the 'Long Man', whence the South Downs Way is followed to this walk's conclusion. Luckily, the Heaven's opened very close to the A259 bus-stop, but it was a shame that the last few miles are missing from this recording, once again. An excellent walk, nonetheless, and very quiet, considering the time of year. Good paths today, but a very busy A27!. (The author's seat in Wilmington is in memory of John Jeffrey Farnol).
Continuing on, the walk ascends the South Downs, with some fine views, before arriving at the extended option, Beachy Head. From there, it's downhill to Eastbourne.
Around 12 miles of walking from inland Sussex to the sea; firstly, across farmland to the smuggling village of Jevington before ascending onto the South Downs.
